Winston's's new fresh- and saltwater Boron II-MX series. The MX stands for maximum, as in maximum power, distance, and fish fighting capabilities. The 4-, 5-, and 6-weights are slightly stiffer and faster than their Boron IIx counterparts; the 7- through 12-weights are true "cannons" that can handle sinking lines, big flies, and adverse wind conditions. While all eleven models feature faster actions and are capable of making long distance, 100+ foot casts, they will amaze you with their responsiveness and light weight. The rods come with a cork fighting butt and our new double locking reel seat. Whether you're chucking 6'' long "grocery" flies or battling fly rod–humbling winds, a Boron II-MX will get the job done.

"Incredible" is the only way to describe this new series; they are arguably the finest fly rods ever made. Utilizing higher modulus third generation Boron/Graphite composite, Boron IIIx rods offer unprecedented performance. They have an even broader casting range that lets anglers control line speed for long casts directly into the wind or gentle presentations up close. They feature a stronger butt section for lifting more line off the water. They are highly responsive and very powerful, yet lightweight with great feel and liveliness. Winston's smooth-casting, 5-piece LT Series rods fish wonderfully and travel exceptionally well. This series sets the standard for multiple-section rods. They have soft tips, actions that are slightly faster and crisper than our WT series and, of course, the distinctive feel found only in a Winston's. The 5-section design features our internal spigot ferrule system, which ensures that the taper and internal diameter of one section of the rod exactly match that of the adjoining section. The vast majority of trout fishing situations involve casts of less than 60 feet, usually far shorter. And when you're working a fish closer in, success often depends on your ability to make gentle, delicate, accurate presentations. For this reason, many experienced anglers consider our WT rods to be the perfect choice for such fishing. With progressive tapers, they work nicely at close distances yet can make longer casts when needed. Proven on trout waters worldwide, these medium-action graphite rods are incredibly smooth, offer wonderful touch and feel, and the tips are soft enough to protect 6x and 7x tippets while playing large trout. For 2011, we are introducing an all-new range of fast-action, all-graphite rods: the GVX series. These rods utilize the same fast-action tapers as our high performance Boron rods and are designed to be the finest 100% graphite rods you can own. They're very powerful, have a smooth, progressive action and feature the craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail that are synonymous the name Winston's. Winston's new VSL rods aren't merely a series of lightweight, high line speed graphite rods. They're an incredible design upgrade at an equally incredible price. For the first time, progressive, fast action rods from Winston's are available for under $300. VSL stands for "very smooth and light." Utilizing design attributes from our higher end graphite rods, the VSL series provides power and smooth, balanced performance. This year, we are pleased to introduce a new line of fast action fly rods that offer unprecedented performance for under $200. Named the Passport series, these superb quality rods are available in a variety of lengths and weights, fish extraordinarily well and provide exceptional power without giving up touch and feel. The rods are a deep bronze color, and feature ruby wraps and a nickel silver reel seat with wood insert. All Passport fly rods come with a olive green cordura tube that is embroidered with the R.L. Winston's name.
