The air is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and now you have to wake up a full hour earlier!!!! HA! You can expect fish to start munching on the Bitterroot steadily in the coming days. Here comes that awesome spring fishing you spent all winter drooling over while watching re-runs of Game of Thrones. The flows on The Bitteroot are extremely low, so plan accordingly.

The early spring capnias and nemouras are out and occasionally you will find a trout willing to come up and eat. Small dark stimulators, bug-meisters, super beetles, ant-acids, and hippie stompers in sizes 16 and 18 will do the trick. A fair amount of midges are on the water in the afternoon and in select water you can find fish keying on them. You can spot one or two Skwala's on the right day, but they are not out in any big numbers yet. The Skwala nymphs are getting chowed though. Along with, red San Juans, pink San Juans, little olive Sloans, purple princes, olive/brown rubber legs, and skipper stones. We're right on the cusp - hold tight people. Stay tuned, our regular fishing reports will be back up and running as soon as we finish this latest season of Game of Thrones.
