The Bitteroot flows have stayed pretty reasonable through this fantastic spring weather. (Finally!) Expect a small bump in flows today, but nothing major. The March browns and baetis have been out and about every afternoon for the last week. During the heat of the day you can find fish sipping mayflies in the slower water. Fish are still eating the skwala, but are becoming very picky. Smaller low profile bugs have been the way to go. (you know, the ones that we can't see very well. Yep that's the one.) Avoid bugs with the big bushy wing.

March brown nymphs, San Juans, and skwala nymphs have been the ticket for subsurface. Double dutch bugs, water walkers, rogue stones, Amy's ants in olive, and el caminos are all good choices for skwalas. Aztec streamers, sparkle minnows, bighorn buggers, sculpzillas, sex dungeons, and masked avengers have been moving fish really well. Gonna be another busy weekend on The Root, so remember to be respectful of others on the river. Kick back and enjoy the sunshine!
