The Bitterroot continues to fish really well through the cooler weather. The mayfly fishing has been out of hand, especially in the evening. Just make sure you bring bug repellant and a rain coat. The mosquitoes have been out in full force, but the fishing has been worth it. Bitterroot stones/goldenstones have been out on the warmer days. Baetis, PMDs, and a few green drakes have been the main mayflies. Rusty spinners, D&D cripples, sprout baetis, parachute adams, and last chance cripples have worked well for mayfly patterns. On warm evenings, the caddis have been bouncing about and the trout have noticed.
