The Bitterroot flows are getting pretty low, so be aware if your floating the middle river sections. The hopper fishing has really ramped up, especially on the cloudy days. Fishing has been best before noon, since the summer heat has set in. Mayfly fishing on the lower river continues to be good, but the fish are starting to get picky. PMD spinners have worked best for us. Bitterroot stones/goldenstones have been out on the warmer days, along with nocturnal stones. PMDs have been the main mayflies. Rusty spinners, D&D cripples, sprout emergers, spinners, and last chance cripples have been our go-to patterns.
