The upper and middle Bitterroot has been fishing very well with the cooler temps. The flow above town is hanging around 750 cfs and has been topping out at 70 degrees. Middle river is running pretty skinny, with most of the river running through irrigation canals. Tricos have really exploded from middle river all the way down to town. If you are going to hit the lower end, make sure you hit the river early. The morning fishing has been very noteworthy with lots of PMDs and tricos hitting the water. Hoppers are still the MVP, pulling fish out of their trico-coma well into the afternoon. Streamer fishing at day break, more often than not, has provided the best opportunity for BIG fish. For Streamers use sparkle minnows, Aztec buggers, Big Horn buggers, mini sex dungeons, and T&A leeches. Olive and white combinations have been best.
