The upper and middle Bitterroot has been fishing very well with the cooler temps. The flow above town is hanging around 850 cfs and has been topping out at 70 degrees. If you are going to hit the lower end, make sure you hit the river early. The dry fly bite has been ending around noon. The morning fishing has been very noteworthy with lots of PMDs and tricos hitting the water. Hoppers have also been getting chowed, especially on the upper and middle sections. Streamer fishing at day break, more often than not, has provided the best opportunity for BIG fish. For Streamers use sparkle minnows, Aztec buggers, Big Horn buggers, mini sex dungeons, and T&A leeches. Olive and white combinations have been best.
