The Blackfoot has continued to fish well and has some of the coldest water in the Missoula area. Hoppers and terrestrials have been the way to go. Spruce moths are still around, but they have tapered off a bit. For dries use big elk hair caddis, more-or-less hoppers, Chernobyls, stimulators, ant-acids, super beetles, water walkers, parachute adams, and purple hazes. For nymphs use Pat's rubber legs, princes, tungsten stones, CDC pheasant tails, perdigons, San Juan worms, and carotene jigs. Water temps have stayed in the lower 60s, which has been a great change in pace. Game on for fishing in the evening! The days of pounding the bank and fishing tight to the willows are well behind us. It's now time to swing tail-outs, inside bend diamond chop, and the deep green troughs. 0-3 feet deep in the morning, and 3-6 feet deep for midday is where you want to be. For streamers use double dirty hippies, sparkle minnows, mojo minnows, mini-dungeons, and sculpzillas.

HATCHES: golden stones, hoppers, crickets, ants, beetles, PMD's, spruce moths
