Very good fall fishing to be had pretty much along the entire length of the river. The main bug and surface feeding activity is in the typical midday window these days with baetis and mahoganies being the central focus. The window of dry fly opportunity is about to get radically shorter beginning next weekend with the cold front that's moving in. Count on the mahoganies to become a distant 2nd to the baetis for dryfly success as the cold weather sets in. You'll continue to have good dryfly action, but it'll be a shorter period than you've been used to these past weeks. The streamer fishing continues to be very good with yellow still being the most productive on the upper river and olive or black generally producing best below Missoula.
