Rock Creek is slowly waking up from it's cold winter slumber. We got a lot of snow this winter to deal with, so be patient. The lower creek is opening up a bit and a few people have been catching fish with nymph rigs and streamers. San Juans, rubber legs, purple princes, and eggs have been the go to nymphs. I wouldn't plan on driving up past where the pavement ends, unless you want to be stuck until Salmonflies are hatching. We would stick to the lower 5 miles of the creek or go all away around up to Gillies Bridge. The upper end of Rock Creek can be a great option this time of year. On the right day you can have great dry fly fishing with midges. Solitude is easy to come by too. We will keep you posted as we hear more.
