Rock Creek Fishing Report - 8/31

Rock Creek is still fishing quite well, even after the small rain storm we just saw. Don't be surprised to see another one of those later in the week, as we're in for some additional moisture later this week. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, stimulators, bullet head stones, half downs, parachute adams, purple hazes, elk hair caddis, and para wulffs. For sub surface patterns use micro stones, pheasant tails, Pat's rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, double beaded stones and batman nymphs.

Rock Creek is in a lot better shape, water temp wise, than the other area waters. But is still very low for this time of year. FWP has not enacted the hoot owl closures up here yet, but that could change as summer stumbles on. The dry fly fishing has been very good in the mornings and evenings, but the middle afternoon has been slow in the heat. For top water morning patters, use a parachute PMD, low riding yellow sally, or small goddard caddis. Hopper/dropper rigs during the afternoon is the ticket. There are caddis hatches in the evening, and golden stones, PMDs, and yellow sallies available during the rest of the day.
