Rock Creek Fishing Report - 3/21

With fall quickly approaching the fishing conditions are changing rapidly. From the lower flows (which give wade fisherman excellent access) to the cold mornings to the hot mid days, things are definitely changing. The morning trico and baetis fishing has held strong, but mid day can be a little tricky. Use a hopper dropper to search the riffles and tandem nymph rigs for the deeper runs. The dry fly fishing should pick back up in the afternoon with caddis and mayflies hatching in good numbers. October caddis should start showing up any day now. For dry flies, use chubby Chernobyls, hippie stompers, super beetles, tilt wing mahoganies, purple haze, and never sink caddis. For sub surface patterns use MaGruber nymphs, pheasant tails, Pat's rubber legs, San Juan Worms, caddis pupae, red lightning bugs, and batman nymphs.

HATCHES: hoppers, PMDs, BWOs, caddis, hecubas

FLIES: Prince nymphs, rogue stone, parachute adams, elk hair caddis, hoppers, stoneflies/nymphs, streamers.
