Rock Creek

9/2/2009

REPORTS:

Rock Creek remains a very solid option for both dryfly and subsurface success. Comparaduns and cripples are still good bets as are spruce moths and smaller attractors like a #12 stimi chew toy or para madam X. If subsurface is your deal, tandem nymph rigs which include smaller mayfly type stuff with smaller double beaded stones or squirreltails should do well for you. As daytime highs rise over the next few days, expect the window of dryfly opportunity to extend later into the evening again for a bit. Your best fishing up here these days, though, will continue to be from about 11 until around 4 or 5.

HATCHES:golden stones, hoppers, spruce moths, caddis, PMDs

FLIES:A variety of mayfly and smaller stonefly nymphs (copper johns, brassies, flashback p-tails, sili leg stones, double beads, etc . .) as well as egg patterns and red or pink San Juans. Hoppers with droppers, leggy attractors, Rogue or other golden stone imitations along with mayfly dries in the 10 to 14 range.
